How to use Verizon Cloud

Verizon Cloud is a service that offers secure cloud storage to wirelessly back up and sync content between your phone, tablet, computer and other devices.

Get Started

    Sign up for Verizon Cloud

    If you're the Account Owner or Account Manager, you can go to the Add-ons and apps page in My Verizon to add Verizon Cloud to any line(s) on your account. Or you can sign up through the Verizon Cloud app to add Verizon Cloud to your individual line.

    Note: A certain amount of Verizon Cloud storage is included at no extra charge with Get More Unlimited, Do More Unlimited and Above Unlimited plans.

    Prepaid accounts – To sign up for Verizon Cloud, follow the steps to get a new add-on feature in the My Verizon app. You must be the Account Owner to add Verizon Cloud to one or more lines on your account.

    Don’t have a Verizon account? You can still sign up through the Verizon Cloud website.

    Download the Verizon Cloud app

    Verizon Cloud may already be installed on your mobile device. If it isn't, you can download it from your device's app store:

    Set up the Verizon Cloud mobile app

    1. Open the Verizon Cloud app on your device.
    2. If prompted, tap the switches to turn permissions on (green) or off (gray), and then tap NEXT in the top right corner of the screen.
    3. Tap Get Started.
    4. If prompted, enter the My Verizon password for the device, and then tap Sign in.
    5. If prompted, enter the one-time PIN sent through email during first-time setup, and then tap Next.
    6. Check the box for each type of content you want Verizon Cloud to back up, and then tap Next in the top right corner.

      Note: You may be prompted to set up your profile.

    Once the initial backup is complete, you can start managing your Verizon Cloud content through the app. The first sync may take up to 48 hours, depending on the amount of content you have.

    Set up the Verizon Cloud app on your computer

    1. Open the Verizon Cloud app.
    2. Sign in:
      • If you have a Verizon wireless account: Enter your mobile number and My Verizon password.
      • If you have a Verizon home account: Enter your wireline email and My Verizon password.
      • If you don’t have a Verizon account: Create a new account.
    3. When prompted, accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
    4. Select a Verizon Cloud storage option.
    5. Click Try plan and then click Sign up.
    6. Enter your nickname and address, and click Continue.
    7. Click Add device.
    8. Note: Click the switch to on (green) if you want to transfer or restore content to your device.

    9. Name your computer for easy searching and click Continue.
    10. Accept the default folders, or click Customize to select other folders.
    11. Click Start backup.

    Once the initial backup is complete, you can start managing your Verizon Cloud content through the app. The first sync may take a while, depending on how much content you have.

    Allow access to content on iOS

    To allow Verizon Cloud to have access to your content (e.g., photos, videos, contacts, etc.):

    • For photos and videos:
      1. Go to your device's Settings app.
      2. Tap Privacy.
      3. Tap Photos.
      4. Tap Verizon Cloud.
      5. Tap All Photos.
    • For contacts:
      1. Go to your device’s Settings app.
      2. Tap Privacy.
      3. Tap Contacts.
      4. Tap Verizon Cloud.

    Verizon Cloud now has access to your content to be able to back up your content.

    Allow location access on iOS

    To allow Verizon Cloud to have location access:

    1. Go to your device's Settings app.
    2. Tap Privacy.
    3. Tap Location Services.
    4. Tap Verizon Cloud.
    5. Tap Always.

    Verizon Cloud now has location access in order to automatically back up your photos when your location changes. Your location information will not be stored.

    Verify the computer app is working

    To check the status of the Verizon Cloud app on your computer:

    1. Click the Cloud icon:
      • Mac – In the top right
      • Windows – In the bottom right
    2. Click the Menu icon (3 horizontal dots).
    3. Click Settings

    Note: When you install Verizon Cloud on a Mac computer with Big Sur, you’re required to set permissions manually.

Back up & sync content

    Back up contacts / Manually sync

    If you already have your contacts set to back up, you can manually back up and sync your contacts:

    1. Open the Verizon Cloud mobile app.
    2. Tap the Sync icon (cloud) in the top right corner of the screen.

    Verizon Cloud will start syncing your contacts and any other content you have set to back up.

    Note: You may need to be connected to Wi-Fi to sync, depending on your backup settings.

    If you aren't sure if your contacts are set to back up, follow the steps to view your backup settings and make sure the Contacts switch is set to green.

    Import contact list

    To import a contact list to Verizon Cloud:

    1. Go to the Verizon Cloud Contacts page in My Verizon.
    2. Click Contacts.
    3. Click the Import icon (up arrow) in the top right corner of the screen.
    4. Click Choose file.
    5. Select the VCF or CSV file you want to upload.
    6. Click Open.
    7. Click Import.

    Your contact list will upload to Verizon Cloud.

    Upload content

    You can upload content to Verizon Cloud from:

    • The My Verizon website: Go to the Verizon Cloud page on the My Verizon website. Tap Upload at the top of the screen and follow the onscreen prompts to select files and upload them.
    • Your smartphone: You can upload content to the Verizon Cloud app on your phone using the upload or share option in other apps. For example, in your Photos or Gallery app, select the photos you want to upload, and then tap the Share or Upload icon. You'll see Verizon Cloud listed in the sharing options. Tap Verizon Cloud, and follow the onscreen prompts to upload the photos.
    • Your basic phone:
      1. Select a photo or video you want to upload.
      2. Select Options.
      3. Select To PIX Place or To Online Album.
    • Your computer: Make sure the Verizon Cloud app is running on your computer and new content will automatically get uploaded.

    Sync media

    If you already have your photos, videos and other files set to back up, you can manually back up and sync your media in the Verizon Cloud mobile app by tapping the Sync icon (cloud) in the top right corner.

    Verizon Cloud will start syncing your media and any other content you have set to back up.

    Note: You may need to be connected to Wi-Fi to sync, depending on your backup settings.

    If you aren't sure which files are set to back up, follow the steps to view your backup settings. Make sure the switches are set to green next to each content type you want to back up.

    On computer: Follow the steps for uploading content from your computer to sync your media.

    View and change your backup settings

    You can view and change your backup settings in the Verizon Cloud mobile app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon at the top of the menu.
    3. Tap What to Back Up.

    You'll see a list of content types. If the box is checked and red (or the switch is green) next to a content type, that content is being backed up to Verizon Cloud. If the box or switch is white, that content isn’t being backed up. You can tap the box or switch to turn back up on and off for each content type.

    Archive files on your computer

    Archiving your files lets you keep a copy of deleted files in Cloud, so you can free up space on your devices. They’ll be there to use on any device until you delete them from your Cloud.

    To turn archiving off and on:

    1. Click the Cloud icon.
      • Mac - At the top right
      • Windows - At the bottom right
    2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Other settings.
    5. Switch Archive files on or off.

    Find your files on another device

    Mobile devices:

    1. Open the Verizon Cloud app.
    2. On the main screen, tap All Files
    3. Content from all your devices will be there.

    Computers:

    1. Click the Cloud icon:
      • Mac - At the top right
      • Windows - At the bottom right
    2. Click the Folder icon.

Download content

    Download content to your phone or tablet

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Photos & Videos.
    3. Touch and hold on a photo or video you want to download.

      Note: A check mark will appear on the photo, showing it’s been selected. Then, you can tap on additional photos or videos if you’d like to download more than one file at the same time.
    4. Tap the Download icon (down arrow) on the bottom navigation bar.

    Once the download is complete, the content will be in a newly created folder named Vault.

    Download from Verizon Cloud to your computer

    Through your browser:

    1. Go to the Verizon Cloud page on the My Verizon website.
    2. Select the type of content you want to download at the top of the screen (e.g., photos, music, documents).
    3. Check the box in the top left corner of the file(s) you want to download. Note: If you want to download all of the files of that content type, select the box at the top of the screen next to the total number of files (e.g., 45 Photos & Videos).
    4. Click the Download icon (a down arrow).
    5. Click OK.

    Your file(s) will start downloading. If you're downloading multiple files at once, they’ll download in a ZIP file.

    Through the app on your computer:

    To download a specific file:

    1. Look for the Verizon Cloud directory in your file system.
    2. Select your files.
    3. Drag and drop them in a local directory.

    Your file(s) will start downloading.

Restore content

    Restore content to new mobile devices

    If you get a new phone, you can easily download all the content stored in the cloud through the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon at the top of the menu.
    3. Tap Tools.
    4. Tap Content Restore.
    5. Select the type(s) of media you want to restore.

      Note: Box is checked or switch is green when that content type is selected.
    6. Select whether you want to restore over Wi-Fi only (no data needed) or if you want to use your data to download over the Verizon network.
    7. Tap Restore.

    The content you selected will start downloading from Verizon Cloud to your phone. It may take a while for the download to complete, depending on how much content you have backed up.

    Note: Restoring content to a computer can only be done when you first set up the Verizon Cloud app on the computer.

    Restore deleted files and contacts

    Deleted files are stored in the trash for 30 days before being permanently deleted. If you accidentally deleted a contact or file that had previously been uploaded to Verizon Cloud, you may be able to find it on the Verizon Cloud Trash page in the My Verizon website or in the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Trash.
    3. Tap and hold the file you want to restore to Verizon Cloud.

      Note: Photos will be highlighted red or a check mark will appear on the photo, showing it's been selected. Then, you can tap on additional files if you'd like to manage more than one file at a time.
    4. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    5. Tap Recover item(s).
    6. Tap RECOVER.

    Your file(s) will be restored to your Verizon Cloud account.

Manage content

    Manage photos and videos

    You can manage your photos and videos on the My Verizon website or in the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Photos & Videos.
    3. Touch and hold on a photo or video you want to manage.

      Note: Photos will be highlighted red or a check mark will appear on the photo, showing it's been selected. Then, you can tap on additional photos or videos if you'd like to manage more than one file at a time.
    4. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    5. Select an option (e.g., download, share, delete, etc.) and follow the onscreen prompts to complete the action.

    Manage documents

    You can manage your documents on the My Verizon website or in the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Documents.
    3. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    4. Tap Select.
    5. Tap and hold the document you want to manage.
    6. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    7. Select an option (e.g., download, share, delete, etc.) and follow the onscreen prompts.

    Manage music

    You can manage your music on the My Verizon website or in the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Music.
    3. Tap and hold the song you want to manage.
    4. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    5. Select an option (e.g., download, share, delete, etc.) and follow the onscreen prompts.

    Create a playlist

    To create a playlist:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Music.
    3. Tap Playlists.
    4. Tap New Playlist.
    5. Enter a name for the playlist and tap Add Songs.
    6. Select the songs you want to add to the playlist and tap the Checkmark icon in the top left corner.

    Your new playlist will be created. You also can upload an album, playlist or folder saved on your computer.

    Manage contacts

    You can manage your contacts on the My Verizon website. You can also print and/or sort your contacts from this page.

    You can also manage your contacts right in the Contacts app on your phone. If you delete, add or edit a contact in your Contacts app, that change will also be made immediately in Verizon Cloud.

Use Private Folder

    View Private Folder

    To view your Private Folder:

    1. In the Verizon Cloud app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Private Folder.

      Note: If you don’t see Private Folder listed, tap All Files and then tap Private Folder.
    3. Follow the security prompts (e.g., a PIN, your fingerprint or facial recognition) to unlock your Private Folder.

    You'll see the content you've stored in your Private Folder or see options to add content to your Private Folder if it's empty.

    Add content to Private Folder

    To move pictures, videos and other files to your Private Folder:

    1. In the Verizon Cloud app, go to the content section that contains the file(s) you want to move to your Private Folder (e.g., Photos and Videos).
    2. Tap the Contextual Menu icon (3 dots) in the top right corner of the screen.
    3. Tap Select.
    4. Select the content you want to move to your Private Folder.
    5. Tap the Contextual Menu icon (3 dots) again.
    6. Tap Make Private.

    You've successfully added files to your Private Folder. Those files will no longer be available in the regular Verizon Cloud folders.

    Save a picture directly to Private Folder

    You can take pictures while you're in your Private Folder, and they will save directly to your Private Folder:

    1. While in your Private Folder, tap the Camera icon at the bottom of the screen to open your Camera app.
    2. Take a picture.

    That picture will save to your Private Folder.

    Note: At this time, videos can't be saved directly to your Private Folder. But you can move videos to your Private Folder after they have been backed up to your regular Verizon Cloud folders.

    Remove content from Private Folder

    To remove pictures, videos or other files from your Private Folder:

    1. While in your Private Folder, tap the Contextual Menu icon (3 dots) in the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Tap Select Content.
    3. Select the file(s) you want to remove from your Private Folder.
    4. Tap the Contextual Menu icon (3 dots) again.
    5. Select the option you want:
      • Move Back – This option will move the file(s) to your regular Verizon Cloud folders. You'll no longer have to unlock the Private Folder to see them.
      • Delete – This option will permanently delete the file(s) from your Verizon Cloud account. You won't see them anywhere in Verizon Cloud.
    6. Tap Move Back or Delete again.

    You've successfully removed content from your Private Folder.

Share & print

    Share media

    You can share your photos, videos and other files on the My Verizon website or in the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the type of content you want to share (e.g., Photos & Videos, Music, Documents)
    3. Tap and hold on the file you want to manage.

      Note: Files will be highlighted red or a check mark will appear on it, showing it’s been selected. Then, you can tap on additional files if you’d like to share more than one file at the same time.
    4. Tap the More options icon in the top right corner.
    5. Tap Share.
    6. Select how you want to share the file(s).
    7. Follow any onscreen prompts to finish sending/uploading your file(s).

    Print pictures

    You can print pictures through the Verizon Cloud Print Shop website or the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap Prints & Gifts.
    3. If prompted, tap Accept & Continue to accept the Terms & Conditions.
    4. Select whether you want to get your prints delivered or pick them up (if available).
    5. If prompted, select whether you want to have the prints delivered or if you want to pick them up.
    6. Tap Prints.

      Note: You can also select any of the other gift options available.
    7. Select the picture size you want.
    8. Select the picture(s) you want to print, and tap Continue.
    9. Tap Add & Continue to Cart.
    10. Review your order and tap Checkout Now.
    11. Follow the onscreen prompts to fill out your shipping and billing information, and complete your order.

View and upgrade storage

    View storage

    You can view your current Verizon Cloud storage plan and how much you've used in the mobile app and computer app. 

    Note: Prepaid accounts can only see Verizon Cloud storage through the Verizon Cloud mobile app.

    Mobile app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the screen.
    3. Tap Manage Storage.

    You'll see your current storage plan and what percentage of your storage you’ve used.

    Computer app:

    1. Click the Cloud icon:
      • Mac - At the top right
      • Windows - At the bottom right
    2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click My Devices.

    Your total space used and free is at the top. Each device is listed with its total space used.

    Note: You can click Show files for details.

    Upgrade storage

    The Account Owner or Account Manager can change the size of your Verizon Cloud storage plan through the Verizon Cloud app:

    • Mobile app:
      1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
      2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the screen.
      3. Tap Manage Storage.
      4. Tap the storage plan you want.
      5. Tap CHANGE PLAN.
      6. Tap OK.
    • Computer app:
      1. Click the Cloud icon:
        • Mac - At the top right
        • Windows - At the bottom right
      2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
      3. Click Settings.
      4. Click User management.
      5. Click My Account.
      6. Select the storage plan you want.
      7. Click Change plan.
      8. Click OK.

    You've successfully upgraded your Verizon Cloud storage.

    Note: Prepaid accounts can only upgrade their Verizon Cloud storage through the Verizon Cloud mobile app.

Manage Verizon Cloud Account

    Manage app permissions

    You can see a list of apps that can access your content in Verizon Cloud through the My Verizon website or the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the menu.
    3. Tap Apps Using Cloud.

    You can tap Remove next to any app that you don’t want to have access to your Verizon Cloud content.

    Complete your profile

    You can complete your profile in the Verizon Cloud app, which will allow you to continue using your Verizon Cloud account, even if you no longer have Verizon service.

    It's important that you complete your profile before you disconnect from Verizon service, otherwise you won’t be able to access the content you had stored in your Cloud account while you were on the Verizon network.

    Learn more about using Verizon Cloud without Verizon service. At this time, business and government accounts aren’t eligible to continue using the Verizon Cloud service after they disconnect their Verizon service.

    To complete your profile:

    1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the screen.
    3. Tap My Account.
    4. Tap Complete My Profile.
    5. Enter or update your email address and tap Continue.
    6. Enter the PIN that was sent to your email address and tap Continue.
    7. Enter your greeting name.
    8. Enter a password that's between 8-20 characters. It must include at least 1 letter and 1 number.
    9. Re-enter your password to verify it.
    10. Tap Done.

    You've successfully completed your profile.

    Find your PIN

    You may be asked for your PIN when you set up Verizon Cloud on a new device. You can find your Verizon Cloud PIN on the My Verizon website.

    Access a different Verizon Cloud account

    If you brought an existing Verizon Cloud account with you that you set up when you didn't have Verizon service, you can sign in to that account through the Verizon Cloud app:

    1. Open the Verizon Cloud app on your new Verizon mobile device.
    2. Tap Log into Other Account.
    3. Enter your email address or User ID and password to sign in to your existing Verizon Cloud account.

    Once signed in, you can access all the content for that Verizon Cloud account.

    Note: If you can't use the Verizon Cloud app to access the cloud for another line on your account. You can only access Verizon Cloud for a different line through the My Verizon website.

    Merge Verizon Cloud accounts

    You can combine 2 Verizon Cloud accounts (including a Fios Verizon Cloud account) into a single account. Then you'll only need to sign in once to see all of your content.

    Note: Once you merge 2 accounts, you can't unmerge them.

    To merge Verizon Cloud accounts:

    1. In the Verizon Cloud app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
    2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the menu.
    3. Tap Tools.
    4. Tap Merge Content.
    5. Tap Log Into Other Cloud Account.
    6. Enter the My Verizon User ID and Password for your other Verizon Cloud account, and tap Sign in.
    7. Tap Yes, Merge Content.

    It may take up to 48 hours to fully merge all the content in both accounts, depending on the amount of content.

    Cancel Verizon Cloud subscription

    If you cancel your Verizon Cloud subscription, only your contacts will continue to sync with Verizon Cloud. All other content stored in your Verizon Cloud account will be immediately archived and no longer available to you. If you don't reactivate your Verizon Cloud account within 30 days, your content will be permanently deleted. If you decide to cancel your subscription to Verizon Cloud, you should first download all your files to your computer or a portable storage device.

    Note: Deleting the Verizon Cloud app from your phone does not cancel your subscription. You will continue to be charged monthly for your account until you cancel your account through My Verizon or delete your account through the Verizon Cloud app.

    You can cancel your Verizon Cloud subscription on the Add-ons and apps page in My Verizon or through the Verizon Cloud app:

    • Mobile app
      1. Tap the Menu icon in the top left corner.
      2. Tap the Settings icon (a gear) at the top of the menu.
      3. Tap My Account.
      4. Tap Delete My Account.
      5. Tap NEXT.
      6. Tap CONFIRM.
    • Computer app:
      1. Click the Cloud icon:
        • Mac - At the top right
        • Windows - At the bottom right
      2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
      3. Click Settings.
      4. Click My Account.
      5. Click Cancel my plan at the bottom.

Manage users on a shared Verizon Cloud account

    Add a user to a shared account

    Only the Account Owner may add users to a Verizon Cloud shared account in the:

    • Mobile app:
      1. On the main screen, tap the Settings icon (gear).
      2. Tap Manage Storage.
      3. Tap Manage Members.
      4. Tap Invite user.
      5. Enter a nickname and email address for the person you’re inviting.
      6. Click Send invite
    • Computer app:
      1. Click the Cloud icon:
        • Mac - At the top right
        • Windows - At the bottom right
      2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
      3. Click Settings.
      4. Click User management.
      5. Click Send invite.
      6. Enter a nickname and email address for the person you’re inviting.
      7. Click Send invite.

    An invitation will be emailed to the recipient.

    Accept an invite to a shared account

    To accept an invitation to join a shared Verizon Cloud account:

    1. Click on the link in the email you received.
    2. Sign up or sign in to Verizon Cloud.

    Remove a user from a shared account

    The Account Owner can remove a user from a shared account through the:

    • Mobile app:
      1. On the main screen, tap the Settings icon (gear).
      2. Tap Manage Storage.
      3. Tap Manage Members.
      4. Go to the user you want to remove.
      5. Tap the Menu icon (3 dots).
      6. Tap Remove user.
    • Computer app:
      1. Click the Cloud icon:
        • Mac - At the top right
        • Windows - At the bottom right
      2. Click the Menu icon (3 dots).
      3. Click Settings.
      4. Click User Management.
      5. Select the dropdown next to the user you want to remove, and click Remove.

    The removed user(s) will be immediately locked out. They must sign up for their own Verizon Cloud storage account within 30 days, or their content will be permanently deleted. If you decide to remove a user from a shareable plan, you should first ensure the user downloads all their files to a computer or a portable storage device.

    Note: If they have a Verizon wireless account, their contacts will remain backed up at no charge.

Business accounts

    Block Verizon Cloud in My Business

    To block Verizon Cloud for individual lines on your business account:

    1. Go to My Business, and sign in, if prompted.
    2. Click Manage Account.
    3. In the Service section, click Manage Wireless Numbers.
    4. Select the phone number you want to manage.
    5. In the Actions dropdown, click Add or Remove Features.
    6. In the Verizon Safeguard section of the Add/Remove Features page, click Block Verizon Cloud.

      Note: This will turn the slider green, and “Currently enrolled” will appear on the screen.
    7. Click Continue in the top right corner.
    8. Click Submit on the Order Confirmation page.

    You'll receive an email confirming the change.
